Hotels

NEC is recommending 2 local hotels for conference attendees which you may book on your own. The hotels are conveniently located near the NFTA Metro Train.

Dormitory Housing

Dorm housing will be available to conference attendees on three campuses:
SUNY Buffalo State - Cassety Hall
Canisius College - Dugan Hall and Bosch Hall
University at Buffalo South Campus - Clement Hall and Goodyear Hall

Reservations:
Dormitory housing may be purchased at registration, and will no longer be available for booking beyond June 29th. All rooms are double occupancy and cost $45 per person per night or $90 per night for single occupancy, and may be booked for any night between Thursday, July 7th - Tuesday, July 12th.

Room Assignments:
Campuses and rooms will be assigned by NEC staff on a first come, first serve basis, with attention to accessibility needs and length of stay. If you do not choose a roommate, NEC will assign you one based on your listed preferences. As a default, room assignments will be based on gender unless otherwise requested.

Amenities:
Dorm housing comes with linens, free parking, free wifi, shared bathrooms, in-building laundry facilities, and access to lounge areas on each floor which have TVs and kitchenettes. All dorms will have on-call university staff and RAs available to accommodate any needs you have during your stay.

Scholarships & Financial Support

To make CommonBound as accessible as possible, a limited number of need-based financial support will be available for attendees and presenters. Our goal is to make the conference affordable for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend, as well as to amplify the voices and messages of people from frontline communities and marginalized identities. Priority will be given to people who are from low wealth communities, people coming from rural areas and from farther away, and youth. Connecting to hotel lodging from your point of arrival
If you have booked a stay the Holiday Inn Downtown or Hyatt Regency Buffalo, you may have access to their shuttle services. Simply call the hotel when you arrive and they will send a shuttle to pick you up. You may also schedule a return shuttle to your point of departure and the front desk.

Getting to SUNY Buffalo State

Directions by Car or Public Transit

Parking at Buffalo State
You may park in any of the student/faculty lots without a permit. Ticketing in these lots will be suspended for the duration of the conference. The conference will be held in Rockwell Hall, Ketchum Hall, Bulger Communication Center, and Campbell Student Union. On campus housing will be in Cassety Hall. These buildings are nearest to the Rockwell Road entrance off of Elmwood Avenue. The closest parking lots are I-30, I-32, R-2, and R-12.

Connecting between Buffalo State and Points of Lodging

Shuttle:
There will be a free continuous shuttle running from Buffalo State to the DELEVAN/CANISIUS COLLEGE Metro Station next to the Canisius campus during the following hours:

Friday, July 8th 8am - 11pm
Saturday, July 9th 8am - 12am
Sunday, July 10th 8am - 4pm
Monday, July 11th 8am - 6pm

NFTA Metro Train (PDF)
From the CANISIUS COLLEGE/DELEVAN metro station, you can catch a northbound train to UNIVERSITY station to get to UB South Campus, southbound to ALLEN/MEDICAL CAMPUS to get to the Holiday Inn, or southbound to FOUNTAIN PLAZA station to reach the Hyatt Hotel.

The NFTA Metro train cost $2 per trip and runs a single line from First Niagara Center to UB South Campus. A train runs every 10 minutes on weekdays and 15-20 minutes on weekends.

Child Care

Child care for children ages 3-12 will be available during conference programming from Friday through Sunday and may be purchased with registration for $5 - $20 per child per day. The childcare schedule is:
Friday: 9 AM - 5:30 PM
Saturday: 9 AM - 5:30 PM
Sunday: 9 AM - 3:00 PM

New Economy Tours

Guided tours of Buffalo will take place throughout the conference. Attendants may purchase tour tickets online in advance of the conference. NEC will announce when tour registration goes live. Stay tuned.
